This is my TOP TEN, MUST-HAVE products for life on the go/#momlife. Every product is tried, tested and true in my opinion and most have a dual if not triple function saving you lots of time, space and money…to spend on more make-up. Duh.
1. ELF FACE PRIMER. $8, Walmart or RCSS.
Why I Love it: It has an easy pump dispenser which makes it mess-free unlike many of my other high-end primers and for a fraction of the price. It has a serum-like consistency which helps the makeup glide on the face nice and smoothly and it’s less than a Starbucks frappucino. How do you go wrong???
2.SMASHBOX PHOTOFINISH BB CREAM. $50, Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart
Why I Love it: I bought this specifically for work because as a preschool teacher, I spend a lot of time outdoors and this has built in SPF of 35 which is great because we all know how damaging the sun can be on our skin. However, this product quickly became one of my favourite foundations/BB Creams. It’s lightweight, goes on like a moisturizer but provides great, buildable, medium coverage with a natural finish. What I love most is that it does not leave that white cast on your skin that most products with a higher amount of sunscreen tend to do nor does it leave it ashy or greasy. It pretty much does it all and it better because this stuff is pricey at 50 bucks a tube (270 ml). On the downside, the colour range isn’t that great as it only comes in 8 shades. Although, I will say that the colour match was very natural and blendable with my skin tone. I use Medium/Deep.
3. Maybelline Instant Age-Rewind (dark spots concealer/treatment) $11, Walmart
Why I Love it: In case you haven’t noticed, I love products that perform double duty. It saves us time and money for the price of one! Not only does this concealer conceal, it treats and helps prevent dark spots. It also comes with a built-in sponge applicator and a turn dial so there’s zero mess. All in all this concealer is here to WERK.
4. NYX Wonderstick , $14 Nyx Canada or Shoppers Drug Mart
Why I Love it: This is another “twofer”as this is a dual ended concealer/contour stick. It comes in 4 shades including a “universal” colour. I use the contour side to chisel out my cheekbones, forehead and jawline super quick. The product is super pigmented and one swipe is all you need. And if I need some extra brightening after a night of #momlife…I have the concealer on the other end to do just that!
Why I Love it: BECAUSE DAT HIGHLIGHT DOE!!! THE END.
Just kidding. So, I fell for the craze but I now understand WHY. This combo is #TDF guys. Tadieeeefor. It’s my favourite highlighter at the moment because a little goes a looong way and the colour payoff is great as well. I got mine in the prosecco pop and pamplemousse combo, I love that it has a bit of a golden tint to it and the matte blush is so vibrant and gives you that pop of colour we sometimes need. And yes, it was pricey but worth every cent. Sephora take my moneeeey.
6. Covergirl TruNaked Waterproof Eyeliner $10, Walmart
Why I Love it: One end is ebony black, the other end is mocha brown. And it’s waterproof. This is my go-to eye product on those days when I don’t really feel like wearing anything heavy. I do a little black eyeliner on the top lashline and so it’s not too harsh, I use the mocha brown liner on the bottom lashline. A little smudge with the fingertips and I’m good to go!
7. Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade $23, Sephora
Why I Love it: Surprise surprise, another dual purpose product. No need for multiple brow products as this pomade controls your unruly brows while filling in the gaps with natural, blendable colour. Again, a little goes a long way. I’ve had mine for over a year and am not even close to a quarter through. Worth the splurge.
Also, Oprah said.
8. Stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara $30, Sephora
Why I Love it: Yes, it’s a 30 dollar mascara but the product lives up to the name. Promise! A couple swipes of this bad boy and you’re done. I’m a sucker for big, bold, lashes and I’d usually spend lots of time, meticulously going over coat after coat. But after discovering this product it not only saves me time but product/money as well…right husband who’s reading this?? TeeHee!
9. Elf Lip Exfoliator $4, Walmart
Why I Love it: If you’re a big fan of lippies like I am, you know that there’s not use in rocking a pretty lip colour if your lips are chapped and dry. It ain’t cute. This clear lip moisturizer goes on much like a lipstick but is infused with tiny, sugar crystals that help scuff out all your dry skin and leave your lips super soft and ..bonus…sweet!
10. Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil $24, Sephora
Why I Love it: This is my go-to no lipstick-lipstick look, lipliner. This lipliner looks like a lipliner but acts like a lipstick as it’s smooth, creamy and does not budge. Also, it’s infused with yummy things like jojoba and Vitamin E. I particularly love the colour 3c Medium Natural Beige on my lips as I can play around and overline my lips a tad for that natural but full lip look without the needles! Ouch!
